Piano removals in Poznań and Warsaw
A piano weighs far more than a typical piece of furniture, yet it has a delicate action, a sensitive case and legs that are easily damaged. A grand piano is even more demanding because of its shape, weight and size. That’s why it pays to leave moving a piano or grand piano to a team that does it regularly, rather than to friends who offer to help.
123Przeprowadzki has been operating since 2008. We have offices in Poznań (ul. Strzeszyńska 100) and Warsaw (ul. Nowodworska 25A). As piano movers, we carry and transport upright and grand pianos:
- as part of a flat or house move,
- as a separate job – for example after you buy an instrument, or when it needs to go to another room or building,
- on routes between cities,
- as part of company and institution relocations.
How does piano transport work?
- Enquiry and quote – fill in the quote form or give us a call. Tell us the type of instrument, its model or dimensions, both addresses, the floors, whether there is a lift and what the route from the flat to the vehicle looks like.
- Planning – on that basis we decide on the number of movers, the date and how the instrument will be carried. If anything is unusual – winding stairs, narrow doors, steps at the entrance – we discuss it before moving day.
- Preparing the instrument – on the day, we protect the case and any parts exposed to knocks. The lid must stay closed while the piano is being carried.
- Carrying out and loading – we carry the instrument carefully, keeping people and surroundings safe, and secure it in the vehicle so it can’t shift in transit.
- Transport and carrying in – we drive the instrument to the new address, carry it in and position it where you want it.
Moving companies typically use transport straps and trolleys for heavy items – we decide what your job needs once we know the details. You can read about the general course of a move on our page how a move works.
How to prepare a piano for a move
We do most of the work, but a few things are worth doing in advance:
- clear the instrument of sheet music, photo frames, the metronome and decorations,
- close the fallboard over the keys, and if you have a key, lock it and keep the key somewhere safe,
- make space – move rugs, plants and small furniture that could get in the way,
- check access – whether the vehicle can park close to the entrance and whether a parking space needs to be arranged,
- plan the spot in your new home – it is good practice to keep the instrument away from radiators, windows with strong sunlight and balcony doors.
How much does it cost to move a piano or grand piano?
We don’t publish a fixed price list, because every instrument move is different. The price depends mainly on:
- the type and size of the instrument – upright, digital piano or grand piano,
- the floor and lift at both addresses, and whether the instrument fits in the lift,
- the route to the vehicle – stairs, turns, narrow doors, the distance from where the vehicle can park,
- the distance – a move within the city or between cities,
- the scope of the job – the instrument alone or a full move, plus storage if needed.
Once you have filled in the form, we will prepare a free, non-binding quote – usually within 24 hours.
What to do with your piano after the move
Pianos don’t cope well with sudden changes in temperature and humidity. After the move, give the instrument a few days to acclimatise before you play it regularly, then call a piano tuner – a change of location almost always affects the tuning. We don’t offer tuning, so it’s worth booking a trusted specialist in advance.
